About

The countertop fabricator behind the counters — our shop, our saw, our crew

A countertop fabricator with its own shop, saw and install crew in Kent, WA. The people, the machines, the address, and an open door to come and look.

StoneWay is a countertop fabricator in Kent, Washington. We buy the slab, cut it on our own saw, and the same company that measured your kitchen is the one that carries the stone through your door.

That sentence sounds ordinary. In this trade it is not. A lot of the counters going into King County kitchens are sold by one company, cut by a second and installed by a third, which is why so many people end up chasing three phone numbers when a seam opens up.

Who you actually deal with

Mike Barzul owns the company, runs the saw and comes out to measure. When you call (206) 643-9354, that is who you get, or someone standing in the same building.

  • Owner: Mike Barzul, 5 years in stone
  • Fabrication: Andrey and Nazar, in the shop
  • Install crew: four people, our own, not a day crew hired that morning
  • The person you text during your job: one name, one mobile number, from bid to walkthrough

Nobody hands your job to a call center. Nobody tells you the installers were a subcontractor after something goes wrong.

Our shop and what is in it

We are at 18856 72nd Ave S, Kent, WA 98032, open Monday–Saturday, 8:00 – 5:00. You are welcome to walk in and look.

  • A bridge saw for the straight cuts
  • A CNC for cutouts, radius work and edge profiles
  • An edge polisher, so the finished edge is done here and not at a third party
  • 2,000 sq ft of shop floor, with slab racks you can walk through
  • Water reclaim and dust extraction, because cutting stone dry is how people lose their lungs

Come and put your hand on a finished seam before you sign anything. That single minute tells you more about a countertop fabricator than any page of text, including this one.

What to ask any countertop fabricator before you hire one

Four questions, in this order. They take about five minutes and they eliminate most of the bad outcomes in this trade.

  1. Who owns the saw? A shop that cuts its own stone controls the schedule and controls the fix when something goes wrong. A reseller controls neither.
  2. Can I see the shop? If the answer is no, ask why. Ours is at 18856 72nd Ave S, Kent, WA 98032.
  3. Can I have the bid itemized, in writing, today? Tear-out, haul-away, cutouts, edge — each on its own line, so you can lay three bids side by side.
  4. Ask for the contractor registration number and check it on the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries site. Do that with every contractor you talk to, including us. If someone gets awkward when you ask, that is your answer.

We are new, and we would rather say so

StoneWay is a new company. We have no wall of reviews yet, and we are not going to buy any or pretend otherwise.

What we can offer instead of a review count:

  • A price band on the website. Ours is published as tiers, per material, so you can see roughly where a stone sits before anyone visits. Most shops will not commit to anything at all until they are standing in your kitchen.
  • A written, itemized bid the same day we measure, which you can take to two other shops and compare line by line. We would rather you did.
  • A one-year workmanship warranty. Our installation is backed for a year from the day we set the stone — the seam, the fit, the sink, the edge. The slab itself is covered by the manufacturer's own warranty, and you get that document on install day.
  • An open shop. Watch your own slab go on the saw if you want to.
  • A call back the same business day. Every time, including the calls that turn out not to be jobs.

People who bought counters years ago picked their shop the same way: several bids, one company that answered the phone, one that showed up when it said it would.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell counters we did not cut.
  • We do not run a showroom that closes at five and a voicemail box that never gets emptied.
  • We do not take a large deposit before your slab is ordered. Terms are on the pricing page.
  • We do not do emergency plumbing at three in the morning. We do the plumbing that belongs to our own work — sink, faucet, disposal.

Where we work

The shop is in Kent, which puts most of South King County within a short drive: Kent, Renton, Auburn, Federal Way, Tukwila, Des Moines, SeaTac, Burien, Covington and Maple Valley. We also work north and east — Seattle, Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Issaquah and Sammamish. Full service area.

Questions people ask before they call

How do I find a good countertop fabricator near me?

Ask who owns the saw. A shop that cuts its own stone controls the schedule and the fix when something goes wrong. Then ask to see the shop, and check the contractor registration on the Washington L&I site.

Do you fabricate in your own shop, or send it out?

Our own shop, at 18856 72nd Ave S, Kent, WA 98032. The saw is ours and the crew are ours.

How many jobs have you done?

StoneWay is new, so the honest answer is that the number is small. Rather than quote a figure you cannot check, we put photographs of finished work on the work page and invite you to come and look at a real seam in the shop.

Do you charge for the measure?

No. The measure and the written bid are free, and no salesperson will sit in your kitchen for three hours.

Can I visit without booking anything?

Yes. 18856 72nd Ave S, Kent, WA 98032, Monday–Saturday, 8:00 – 5:00. Call first only so somebody is at the front and not behind ear defenders.
